UT Austin senior clinches spot in ‘Jeopardy!’ finals

AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas at Austin senior Jaskaran Singh bet it all in Final Jeopardy! to earn his spot on “Jeopardy! National College Championship” finals that airs Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. CST.

The senior is currently majoring in finance and business at Texas McCombs School of Business.

He entered the last round Friday night in a close second place.

Singh was the only contestant with the correct response to the answer the following: “Introduced in 1928, this character has a disappointing affair with a writer before she begins a more satisfying relationship.” It was in the “Characters in Banned Books” category.

“I was initially pretty sure it was Lady Chatterley and was writing it down as soon as the clue was revealed. With about five seconds left, I thought I may have messed up, but I didn’t have a better answer,” Singh said. “So I went with it, and it worked!”

The winner of the finals will take home $250,000, with $100,000 for second place and $50,000 for third.
