BOONE, N.C. — Eric Schmibinger has been operating at Sugar Mountain Vacation resort for much more than two decades. What started as a love for snowboarding turned into a really like for the resort. Now, he is maintaining an eye on these snow guns.

“I moved down here to aid mentor the race group,” Schmibinger claimed.
Temperatures on Friday hit the 20s. The fairly weather flipped on snow makers. Dozens of guns roared to existence, sending snow flying.
“I would say we likely have 40, 50, maybe 60 guns operating,” Schmibinger said. “These large types up right here, they have their individual air compressor, and they are totally automatic, and they include and acquire away drinking water as the temperature goes up and down.”
As prolonged as temperatures are small, the guns will continue to keep likely. Operator Gunther Jochl claims that is what they prepare to do.
“We are hoping to open as before long as we can,” Jochl stated.
