SeaWorld Orlando confirmed the construction of its seventh roller coaster on Friday afternoon.
It is scheduled to open in 2023, SeaWorld said, but the announcement shared few other details.
Construction has been underway at the theme park for months in the area formerly known as Bayside Pathway, the area where special events such as Halloween Spootakular and holiday celebrations have been staged. The work extends into the main parking lot for SeaWorld Orlando. Coaster watchers have spied segments of steel rail nearby.

The construction site is within eyeshot of Ice Breaker, a coaster that opened earlier this year next to Bayside Stadium.
SeaWorld boasts that a seventh coaster makes it the park with the most coasters in the area. It has started selling T-shirts proclaiming itself as the coaster capital of Orlando.
In promotional materials released Friday, no name is given for the new project, but the hashtag of #HighSurfAdvisory was used. A video says the coaster is “the first of its kind” but does not elaborate. Renderings show a 24-passenger, blue-and-yellow train on the rails.
“Guests are invited to get ready to feel the power of the pacific right here in Florida, letting the waves propel them into a one-of-a-kind ocean adventure,” the SeaWorld news release said.
More details will be given in the coming months, it said.
