ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester’s Summer Soul Music Festival will set the groove in the city this weekend.
The 26th edition of the event is set to infuse Frontier Field with soul, gospel and R&B from Friday evening through Sunday.
Artist Babyface will headline the event on Saturday with other notable performers like Jimmie Highsmith Jr., Jon B. and Lyfe Jennings taking the stage throughout the weekend.
On Saturday morning there will be a free community block party in celebration of the three-day festival. There will also be a job fair featuring 20 companies ready to hire for 2,700 open positions. In addition, the community can look forward to a back-to-school giveaway.
“We just want to keep raising the level from year to year and one of the great ways to do that is getting great talent and then also doing great community events,” said Varick Vaiynia, one of the organizers. “So, us going to get Babyface for his first time performing in Rochester was a huge deal to us. And then we also like to make sure we’re highlighting local talent.”
On Friday night, from 5-11 p.m., the festival will feature around 24 artists from Rochester and the surrounding region at the Frontier Field VIP lot.
