The announcement of the September launch was made today, July 28, 2022, by Immersive Gamebox, formerly Electric Gamebox, as part of the New York City gaming center’s grand opening.

Based on the mega-hit Netflix television survival drama, the Immersive Gamebox “smart room” allows two to six player teams to work together to overcome challenges inspired by the TV series, including “Red Light Green Light,” “Marbles,” the show’s namesake “Squid Game,” and more.

Immersive Gamebox is not a Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality experience; instead, it’s a venue-based gaming platform located in a digital smart room (“gamebox”) that includes technology such as projection mapping, touch screens, 3D motion tracking, and surround sound for a “live” you-are-there adventure, without the need for headsets.

“People are constantly seeking new and different ways to remain invested in their favorite content,” said Will Dean, CEO, Immersive Gamebox. “To reimagine Netflix’s most popular show in an entirely new format offers customers more ways to stay connected to ‘Squid Game.’”

Players must be age 16 and up to experience “Squid Game” interactive gaming. Other IPs created by Immersive Gamebox’s in-house studio include Rovio Entertainment’s life-sized Angry Birds game.

The New York City venue is located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side at 242 Broome Street, and tickets can be purchased online and in-store.
