Stonewall Taylor, the architectural firm who oversaw the hotel’s redesign, were inspired by the iconic Times Square location during their work alongside Sawyer & Company, who led the updated guestroom and suite design, calling the new theme a “Kaleidoscope of Energy.”
“The reflections, flow of energy, and vivacity that encapsulate Times Square were central references for this project,” said Sara Duffy, principal at Stonehill Taylor. “We fed off the spirit of the hotel’s surroundings while simultaneously constructing a comfortable, rejuvenating stay for guests. The end result was a design that perfectly balances elegant playfulness and interactive experiences with flexible and varied seating, strategically open yet distinctive zones, and an artful New York theme that carries throughout the hotel.”
During the restructuring, the hotel’s reception desks were moved, allowing natural light to enter through prismatic waved glass. An acrylic 3D sculpture by Parachilna and artwork with a Kaleidoscope -inspired theme by Kalisher now grace the reception desks’ new space.
Guestrooms in a neutral color palette have been reimagined with high-definition televisions, expanded closets, walk-in showers featuring spa-style lighting, in-room TED content, and new platform beds.
Union Square Hospitality Group and Union Square Events have been brought onboard to develop new food and beverage concepts at Broadway Lounge, Revel & Rye Bar and Restaurant, M Club, and for event catering.
Broadway Lounge offers woodfired pizza, gourmet snacks, and handcrafted cocktails with a view of Times Square and the Great White Way through floor-to-ceiling windows, along with the Perch outdoor terrace located on either side of the lounge.
Ninth-floor Revel & Rye Bar and Restaurant features an old-school whiskey bar ambiance in which to imbibe in a selection of more than 20 wines by the glass, a large American whiskey list, and New York-inspired menu items. LED “billboards” in the restaurant show sporting events, movies, and more.
M Club, Marriott’s signature brand reserved for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite, and Ambassador Elite members, is designed as a chic New York City-style living room, with seating for 200. Guests will find a library, business support center, and communal worktables and banquettes to assist in carrying out work endeavors. M Club offers a complimentary full breakfast buffet, plus Grab & Go stations for morning coffee and pastries.
The hotel’s Atrium Greatroom lobby also serves a breakfast buffet and acts as a convivial spot for evening nightcaps.
