New York Film Festival unveils lineup, plots in-person fest

NEW YORK – A 12 months after based on travel-in and virtual screenings, the New York Film Pageant, a single of the premier locations of the drop pageant circuit, will return to in-person premieres at Lincoln Middle this September, with vaccination proof required for all attendees.

The pageant will kick off with the previously declared planet premiere of Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” with Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand. Jane Campion’s “The Energy of the Canine,” which will initial debut at Venice, is the festival’s centerpiece. Pedro Almodóvar’s “Parallel Mothers” will near the competition a handful of weeks right after it premieres at the Venice Movie Pageant opener.

Apart from those gala screenings, the 32 capabilities in the festival’s principal slate includes the Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Titane,” from French filmmaker Julia Ducournau and other Cannes entries such as British filmmaker Joanna Hogg’s “The Souvenir Part II” Todd Haynes’ documentary “The Velvet Underground” and Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s “Memoria.” Other alternatives incorporate films that premiered at before virtual festivals like Céline Sciamma’s “Petit Maman” and Rebecca Hall’s “Passing.” Two Hong Sangsoo films will also perform at NYFF: “Introduction” and “In Front of Your Encounter.”
