Mets to hold ‘Amazin’ Day’ all over city on March 25

Elen Salzburg March 12, 2023

The New York Mets will be holding their first Amazin’ Day celebration on Saturday, March 25, which will feature unique events and giveaways across the city.

The team said in a press release Friday morning that fans who wear a Mets hat or any other Mets gear will be able to attend “limited-ticket events” at the Gotham Comedy Club and the Metropolitan Opera. Fans can also get free access to “immersive experiences” at Brooklyn Museum, Hudson Yards, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Webster Hall, Terminal 5, Brooklyn Steel and Racket NYC, the team added.

Several Mets alumni and Mr. and Mrs. Met — the team mascots of the Mets — will appear at various community service events on Amazin’ Day, according to the Mets. Events include an animal adoption at Wollman Rink, a youth baseball game at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and a library card distribution at Queens Public Library.

The Mets say there will also be merchandise giveaways around the five boroughs, plus free Coca-Cola products distributed at participating restaurants and free Dunkin’ gift cards given away from the Dunkin’ Jeep.

The Mets are encouraging fans outside the five boroughs “to share their Mets fandom and gear on social media with the hashtag #AmazinDay.”

And as part of the festivities, there will be an Amazin’ Day grand prize, which will grant a fan the opportunity to throw out the first pitch before a game, meet players during batting practice, get premium tickets and watch a pregame press conference.

“We look forward to bringing the Mets’ infectious energy to the streets of New York City and surprising and delighting fans with pop-ups and giveaways, free access to some of the city’s most iconic venues, and opportunities to give back,” Andy Goldberg, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the Mets, said.

The Mets enter the 2023 season with lofty expectations after spending nearly $500 million on free agents this offseason. They won 101 games last season, but were eliminated by the San Diego Padres in Game 3 of a best-of-three Wild Card Series in October.
