Meet the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind’s Celestial antagonist

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind launch coaster opens at Walt Disney World’s Epcot park on May 27, 2022, and Marvel.com has just revealed the identity of the attraction’s Celestial villain.

Within the new reverse-launch coaster’s storyline, an ancient Celestial named Eson the Searcher – member of the universe’s oldest race – has been watching planet Earth for many eons and is about to give visitors to Epcot’s first-ever Other-World Showcase pavilion more than they bargained for.

Eson’s mission is, according to Disney, to “right a wrong in a big way,” and it’s up to Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot to stop him.

They and the Xandarians are recruiting visitors to the Wonders of Xandar pavilion who were just hoping to get an insight into the Xandarian’s culture, history, and way of life (that’s you) to help them vanquish Eson and save the day.

The galaxy’s guardians have never before encountered the Celestial – who was once in possession of one of the six Infinity Stones, called the Power Stone – but they became aware of Eson and his power-surging stone in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Now, his attention is focused on Earth.

Will you and the Guardians stop Eson’s grand plan in its tracks? Will your mission go horribly wrong? That remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: when recruits board their Starjumpers to take on the villain there will be some “rockin’ tunes” along the way.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind indoor “story coaster” is, according to Disney, a “family-thrills” attraction, and is based on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” film franchise.
