STOWE, Vt. – The 2nd daughter of Maria von Trapp, whose Austrian household was famed for currently being depicted in the musical and beloved motion picture “The Sound of New music,” has died. She was 90.
Eleonore “Lorli” von Trapp Campbell died Sunday in Northfield, Vermont. The loss of life was verified by The Day Funeral Home in Randolph, Vermont.
Campbell was born in Salzburg, Austria, the second daughter of Georg and Maria von Trapp and a young stepsibling to the more mature von Trapp small children who went on to be depicted in phase and film.
The relatives escaped from Nazi-occupied Austria in 1938 and done live performance excursions throughout Europe and The us. The loved ones settled in Vermont in the early 1940s and opened a ski lodge in Stowe.
The Austrian traditions her mother introduced to Vermont from Europe played a large portion in the loved ones existence, daughter Hope McAndrew, of East Hardwick, Vermont, mentioned Thursday.
Even though McAndrew claimed they all understood every single word from the music from “The Sound of Songs,” they also understood the music the loved ones sang even though touring North The us, long right before the musicals.
“They did incredible Xmas concerts that she would describe to us. And they were being definitely touching,” McAndrew reported. “She had incredibly fond recollections of all those Xmas live shows.”
“The Seem of Music,” was a musical participate in and motion picture centered loosely on a 1949 guide by Maria von Trapp, who died in 1987. It tells the story of an Austrian girl who married a widower with seven little ones and teaches them new music.
Campbell’s father, Austrian naval Capt. Georg von Trapp and his 1st wife, Agathe Whitehead von Trapp, had seven little ones who ended up the foundation for the singing spouse and children in the musical and film. Maria married the captain soon after Whitehead von Trapp died and taught her new stepchildren audio. They are all now deceased.
Georg von Trapp and Maria von Trapp went on to have a few additional youngsters, who ended up not depicted in the film Campbell was the 2nd. Campbell’s siblings, Rosmarie von Trapp and Johannes von Trapp, dwell in Stowe.
Campbell’s initial career was singing soprano as a member of the Trapp Household Singers, which traveled internationally and to all of the United States, except South Dakota and Hawaii, right until she married Hugh David Campbell in 1954, the obituary mentioned.

In addition to her two remaining siblings, survivors incorporate 7 daughters, 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandsons. A service is scheduled for Nov. 6 in Waitsfield.
