When a restaurant has a name like Grilled Cheezus you can expect some creativity in menu names as well.
Grilled Cheezus, of class, is a grilled cheese sandwich specialty cafe with two areas, 1 at the downtown UCF campus and a further on Mills Avenue in the previous Funky Monkey/Bites & Bubbles room, which is the 1 I visited. The Mills 50 spot was also property, for a brief time, to Restaurant Ash, which also specialised in sandwiches. I consider it’s fair to say that if it experienced served sandwiches the caliber of the ones at Grilled Cheezus, Cafe Ash would nevertheless be there.
But let’s get again to the menu.
Some entries’ elements can be deduced, such as Mac & Cheezus, which is macaroni and cheese on bread, for people sensation carbohydrate deficient, and you could guess that Mom Clucker characteristics rooster.
But what are we to assume from a sandwich known as the Tom Cruise – that it is more compact than you be expecting it to be? Or the Chuck Norris – that it’s, um, cheesier? I imagine the one particular called The Pope, with provolone, mozzarella, salami, capicola and sweet peppers, was meant to be a grilled cheese model of an Italian sandwich, by no means brain that the existing pope is Argentine.
I selected the one named immediately after the joint, the Grilled Cheezus, which had sharp yellow cheddar, mozzarella and white American (there’s a joke there someplace) on brioche. I opted to involve ham, which added $2.50 to the $9 foundation cost. The ham was a small lunchmeaty but the sandwich experienced lots of cheesy goo between the waffle-pressed bread.
So, also, the curiously named Yo Adrian (Philly, it’s possible?), which highlighted provolone and white American cheeses moreover ribeye, caramelized onions and sweet peppers, this a person on ciabatta. I preferred both of those sandwiches and located tiny difference concerning the brioche and ciabatta, so don’t allow that be the deciding issue in your choice.
All sandwiches arrive with a modest bowl of basily tomato bisque that is meant far more for dunking than spooning, which is a awesome nostalgic contact that harkens back to childhood soup-and-sandwich lunches.
The Mills 50 area has been reconstructed so that there is a quickly-foodstuff type counter and kitchen area wherever the moment there was a dining area and bar. (A different business enterprise, Phat Ash Bakes, a cookietisserie, operates out of the initial kitchen area at the rear of the building.) A lone girl was having the orders and assembling the sandwiches the night I stopped in. And although I was the only in-house customer, it took a when for my get to be prepared. Soon after 20 minutes I was contemplating, cheezus crispy, which is a long time to wait for grilled cheese sandwiches. But sandwiches this very good are really worth the additional minutes.
