Ever wondered what it would feel like to go “over the edge” and rappel down the side of a multi-story building? Next month, you can do just that while raising money to support Give Kids the World Village!
Over the Edge will return on Feb. 17-18, 2021, where participants will rappel down the side of the 32-story Hyatt Regency Orlando — all to support Give Kids the World Village. Those interested can either fundraise once registered or simply make a donation.
The registration fee to be a rappeller is $50, and participants must raise a minimum of $1,000 by Feb. 10, 2022. By registering, you agree to raise the $1,000 and rappel. The non-refundable registration fee is counted toward the fundraising minimum.
There’s no minimum age to rappel, but minors will have to have their waiver signed by a consenting parent or guardian. There is a weight restriction, however; participants must be between 110-350 pounds to fit into the harness equipment safely.
There will be a training and practice session before the big day, so you can get used to the harness, rappel device and the technique for descending the building ahead of time.
A detailed plan on the safe execution of the event has been developed, should group gathering and social distancing restrictions remain in place. Participants will be given more details on the COVID-19 specific safety protocols closer to the event date. For now, though, participants will be given a scheduled time period (within an hour) in which their rappel will take place.
