With Halloween lurking just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to welcome the spooky season with a horror movie location tour in Los Angeles or New York.
The Horror Tour!! in L.A.
The Movie Guys’ new limited-time Horror Tour!! (two exclamation points required) includes iconic filming locations from some of the best horror classics, including Nancy’s house and Springwood High School (actually John Marshall High School) from “A Nightmare on Elm St.” (1984), and South Pasadena locations from the original 1978 “Halloween” movie, including the houses of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Michael Myers (Nick Castle).

“Only in L.A. can you get so many famous filming locations for horror films in one condensed area, so if you’re dying to check ’em out, we can take you,” said The Movie Guys Owner and Guide Paul Preston. “One of our big perks is that these are private tours, so if you want to get out and take pictures, pose in front of the place, re-enact your favorite scenes – done!”

Among the other spooky spots you’ll see is the funeral home from “Phantasm II,” the church from “The Fog,” Murder House from season one of “American Horror Story,” and the famous L.A. landmark, the Rialto Theatre, which appeared in both “A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master” (1988) and “Scream 2” (1997). You can even see the house from Michael Jackson’s classic Thriller video.

The best part is that, when booking your tour, you’ll get to pick ten locations you’re guaranteed to see, so Preston notes you’re creating “a greatest hits of movies you love.”
“The last thing we want is to take you to a location from a movie you don’t like,” he explains. “You can count on seeing a lot more than ten iconic movie locations on your tour, but we want you to be psyched to see the ten you pick.”
The three-hour driving tour is available through Oct. 31, 2022, for $350 per vehicle (up to four people). Special nighttime tours are also offered. Click here for details.
Horror Movie Location Tour in NYC
On Location Tours has recently launched a self-guided version of their popular Horror Movie Location Tour featuring filming locations from some of the many horror movies and psychological thrillers set in the Upper West Side of New York City.
The walking journey begins at Greyshot Arch in Central Park, which was featured in the 2008 “found footage” monster film “Cloverfield” from director Mat Reeves (“The Batman”) and producer J.J. Abrams (“The Rise of Skywalker“).

The tour also includes the iconic Dakota building that served as The Bramford in the 1968 horror classic “Rosemary’s Baby,” the Belnord apartment building that portrays the Arconia in the hit Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” starring Steve Martin and Martin Short.
