Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger opened today, July 30, 2022, adding the world’s steepest dive coaster to the Six Flags Fiesta Texas amusement park.

The roller coaster’s backstory revolves around the evil Dr. Diabolical and her nefarious quest to let menacing creatures loose on the world. To achieve her “diabolical” goal, she has constructed a means of capturing the essence of human adrenaline and fear – and thrill-seekers are lining up to experience it.
After boarding the meniacal machine, riders are cranked up the lift hill and suspended face-first above the coaster’s 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop for a few terrifying moments before being released into a 150-foot dive, making a swooping circuit around an Immelmann inversion, enduring a 270-degree Zero-G roll, then shooting down a 75-foot near-vertical drop followed by a wild banked turn, straight into extreme air time, and finishing with a high-speed spiral.
“Six Flags Fiesta Texas continues to push the limits of thrill and innovation as we prepare to introduce the world’s steepest dive coaster during our 30th anniversary season,” said Park President Jeffrey Siebert.
95-degree beyond-vertical drop
Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger roller coaster fast facts:

- Three passenger trains, each holding 21 riders
- Each passenger train row seats seven riders
- Heights reaching 15 stories
- Face-first dive at 60 m.p.h.
- 2,501 feet of track
The roller coaster also features immersive steampunk theming that pairs with its location in the park’s Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District.
“Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger joins an already stellar lineup of record-breaking roller coasters, rides, and attractions,” Siebert added. “With eight intense elements, including dramatic inversions and extreme airtime, it will quickly become a fan favorite.”
Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger opens as part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas’s 30th Anniversary celebration. Guests must be 52 inches (4’ 3”) to ride.
