Walt Disney World has posted details for the virtual queue that will be used for Tron Lightcycle / Run, the roller coaster that opens to the public at Magic Kingdom on April 4.
The system is very similar to what has been used for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, a thrill ride that debuted at Epcot last year.
Visitors with date-specific reservations for Magic Kingdom will use the My Disney Experience app to get in the virtual queue for the coaster. There will be two daily windows of opportunity, at 7 a.m., then at 1 p.m.
Potential riders don’t have to be in the park at 7 a.m. to nab a boarding group, but folks trying at 1 p.m. must be physically at Magic Kingdom park.

Then, when it’s time for a passenger’s boarding group to ride, a notification is sent via the My Disney Experience app.
Like Cosmic Rewind, Tron Lightcycle / Run will have no standby line. But visitors will be able to purchase Lightning Lane access via Disney Genie. Pricing will vary.
In the Disney fine print: Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability and are a guarantee of experiencing the ride. And a visitor can request space in the virtual queue no more than once a day during regular park hours.
The new Tron ride, located in Tomorrowland, was announced in 2017 and is patterned after the ride that opened with Shanghai Disneyland in 2016. The attraction, inspired by the 2010 film “Tron: Legacy,” has been in preview mode for cast members and annual passholders for several weeks.
