Couple ties the knot at halftime of Mavs game

DALLAS — Talk about halftime entertainment. One lucky couple tied the knot in front of 20,000-plus basketball fans at the American Airlines Center Monday night during halftime of the Dallas Mavericks’ home game against the Timberwolves.

Reid and Ellyn had a full-blown wedding at center court, marking the first time a wedding has ever taken place at an NBA game, according to the Dallas Mavs.

Sportscaster Mark Followill was the officiator of the wedding.

Congratulations to Reid and Ellyn Malone. A joy to be a small part of your special day. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness together ❤️ https://t.co/qvuPYt4RCh

Monday night’s game was also Kyrie Irving’s first debut at home with the Mavericks a week after the blockbuster deal became official to bring the potential free agent from the Brooklyn Nets.

Irving had the highest-scoring fourth quarter of his career, scoring 26 of his 36 points in the final 12 minutes Monday night. But he made a bad pass after stepping inside the 3-point line on the final possession after Minnesota had thrown off the timing between him and Doncic by knocking the inbound pass into the backcourt. The Timberwolves nearly blew a 26-point lead but held on to win 124-121.
