Here are all of the major attractions, theme park-related restaurants, shops, and resorts being built that you may want to plan your vacation around.
As with any construction, the opening dates may change. All of these have been announced or are currently under construction. These are not rumors, but confirmed projects. This list, sorted by opening date, is updated as new attractions, dates, and details are announced.
Prairie Screamer
Location: Trader’s Village
Opening Date: Spring 2022
This roller coaster was originally installed at the now-closed Scandia Amusement Park in Ontario, Calif. (then known as the Scandia Screamer) when Trader’s Village purchased it in October 2020, disassembled it, and shipped it to Texas. The renamed Prairie Screamer will join the other popular rides at Trader’s Village when it opens this fall.
Ferrari Build and Race
Location: Legoland California Resort
Opening Date: May 12, 2022
The world’s first Lego Ferrari “Build and Race” interactive attraction will put guests in the driver’s seat as they make their way through the “garage” to the “racetrack” as they utilize their creativity and imagination to build, test and race their own Lego Ferrari.
Legoland Korea Resort
Location: Chuncheon, South Korea
Opening Date: May 5, 2022
Legoland Korea Resort will officially open on May 5, 2022, in Chuncheon, South Korea (about 90 minutes from Seoul) to coincide with Korea’s Children’s Day. The new Legoland theme park — the 10th in the world — will feature 40 rides, shows, and attractions in seven themed lands: Bricktopia, Brick Street, Lego City, Lego Ninjago, Pirate Shore, Lego Castle, and Miniland.
Aquazoid Amped
Location: Water Country USA
Opening Date: May 2022
As Aquazoid Amped riders plunge through 864 feet of fully enclosed, twisting tube at speeds of 20 feet per second, they’ll experience all-new special effects and sudden splashes, pulse-pounding music, and a variety of dynamic light shows courtesy of 59 color-changing rings, making each ride a different experience.
Disney Wish cruise ship
Location: Disney Cruise Line
Opening Date: June 9, 2022
Reflecting the theme of the vessel, Rapunzel will grace the stern, representing her character’s wish to see the world. The ship’s three-story atrium is inspired by the beauty of an enchanted fairytale.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Location: Epcot’s World Discovery, formerly The Universe of Energy
Opening Date: May 27, 2022
Guests will ride on a daring adventure featuring the first reverse launch into space on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This thrilling, family-friendly attraction will feature a never-before-seen storytelling coaster that rotates to focus on the action, wherever it may be.
Avengers Campus
Location: Walt Disney Studios Park, Disneyland Paris
Opening Date: Summer 2022
This new land will bring the worlds of Marvel to Walt Disney Studios Park as part of Disneyland Paris’ 30th anniversary celebration. The land will feature the same WEB Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure attraction that Disney California Adventure offers, as well as an Iron Man-themed roller coaster.
Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger
Location: Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Opening Date: Summer 2022
This new custom-designed dive coaster created by Bolliger & Mabillard for Six Flags Fiesta Texas features a cliffhanger hold, which suspends riders as they face straight down a 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop, then releases them moments later into a 150-foot dive. As guests enter the queue for the roller coaster, they will find themselves immersed in the story of Dr. Diabolical and her evil quest to create menacing creatures to frighten the world. To bring her creations to life, she has constructed a machine to capture the essence of human adrenaline and fear.
Bombs Away extreme drop slide
Location: Sandcastle water park
Opening Date: Summer 2022
The Bombs Away extreme drop slide will literally pull the floor out from under riders, sending them screaming down a 305-foot twisting, turning, freefall flight, at speeds up to 26 feet per second. The slide will start with an enclosed launch capsule and end with a six-story drop as the floor vanishes beneath rider’s feet.
Carnival Chaos Hyper Ride
Location: Clifton Hill
Opening Date: Summer 2022
Set to open next summer, “Carnival Chaos Hyper Ride” will showcase Triotech’s Hyper Ride, an interactive media-based dark ride that features a world’s first in motion technology. The ride will include seven interactive scenes, five carts, and programable digital theming inside.
Lego Discovery Center Belgium
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Opening Date: Summer 2022
Belgium’s families will be the first, worldwide, to get a look at the design of Brussels’ new Lego Discovery Centre interactive indoor play place.
SeaWorld Sea Lion & Otter Spotlight
Location: SeaWorld San Antonio

This live animal and actor “Sea Lion & Otter Spotlight” show welcomes guests to the fictional Pacific Point Marine Conservation Center for an inside look at the lives of California sea lions and Asian small-clawed otters.
Jolly Rancher Remix and Mix’d by Jolly Rancher
Location: Hersheypark
Opening Date: Summer 2022
The skyline over Hersheypark will be a whole lot brighter as two “sweet” new rides – the Jolly Rancher Remix roller coaster and the 360-degree spinning ride, Mix’d Flavored By Jolly Rancher – make their debut.
“Escape IT” escape room
Location: Las Vegas
Opening Date: Fall 2022
Based on the movies “IT” and “IT Chapter Two,” this multi-room fear fest ramps up the typical escape room experience with 20+ interactive rooms, state-of-the-art special FX, lighting, animatronics, and live actors in an immersive test of skill and critical thinking, all with a maniac clown in pursuit.
Studio Ghibli theme park
Location: Aichi Expo Commemorative Park in Nagakute City, Japan
Opening Date: November 1, 2022
Once opened, this Studio Ghibli theme park will house five areas themed to classic Ghibli films, including “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Spirited Away,” and “My Neighbor Totoro.”
Palindrome infinity shuttle roller coaster
Location: Cotaland
Opening Date: Late 2022
The one-of-a-kind infinity shuttle roller coaster will feature a 95-foot vertical lift hill, a top speed of 51 miles-per-hour, two inversions, and a vertical “hop-stall” before riders experience the ride again — only backward.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant
Location: Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Opening Date: 2022
Set to be built in Toy Story Land, this new table service restaurant will make guests feel like honorary toys in a Western-themed play set created from a colorful mash-up of fun, oversized toys and cardboard boxes.
“Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!”
Location: Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney World
Opening Date: 2022
A reimagined version of “Finding Nemo – The Musical” will return next year to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now titled “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!,” the show will be set in the timeline of the film “Finding Dory,” and when guests sit in the Theater in the Wild, they’ll find themselves inside the Marine Life Institute.
“Fantasmic!” reimagined
Location: Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World
Opening Date: 2022
Fan-favorite nighttime spectacular “Fantasmic!” will return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2022 with an all-new sequence featuring live performers, stunts, special effects and more. While the specifics have not been shared, we noticed a few clues in the official show graphic — fractal snowflakes representing the various elements of Arendelle, a magic lamp, and an oar with the symbol of Te Fiti. Based on that, we think that “Frozen II,” “Aladdin,” and “Moana” will have some kind of representation in the show.
PLAY! Pavilion

In this interactive metropolis, guests will discover a city bursting with games, activities, and experiences that connect them with friends, family, and beloved Disney characters like never before.
Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana”

Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” at Epcot will be the first attraction inspired by the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios film. This lush exploration trail will invite guests to meet and play with magical, living water.
Dreamers Point
Location: Epcot’s World Celebration
Opening Date: 2022
Dreamers Point will feature lush gardens, a wishing tree, an interactive new fountain and a statue celebrating the legacy of the original dreamer, Walt Disney.
Pirate River Quest
Location: Legoland Florida Resort
Opening Date: 2022
Guests can set sail with a crew of Lego pirates on Captain’s orders to explore the murky waters and retrieve a lost treasure, stolen by a group of mischievous monkeys! Travel through the uncharted waters of Cypress Gardens and discover the secrets that protect its canals, as a brand-new story unfolds into family-friendly treasure hunt.
Aquaman: Power Wave launched shuttle coaster
Location: Six Flags Over Texas
Opening Date: 2022
Opening next year, Aquaman: Power Wave is a launch-style coaster that will suspend riders at a 90-degree angle before hurtling them across more than 700 feet of track at 63 miles per hour.
Water’s Edge Brews & Bites and Wanyama Overlook
Location: Wild Adventures theme park
Opening Date: 2022
Wild Adventures has announced a slate of new attractions and events arriving next year, including Water’s Edge Brews & Bites — a restaurant and entertainment venue as part of a partnership with Georgia Beer Company. In addition, the park will also debut the largest new animal habitat in over a decade, dubbed the Wanyama Overlook. The habitat will feature animals native to Africa and Asia, including giraffes, zebras, water buffalo, wildebeests and more.
Treasure Hunt: The Ride
Location: Cannery Row
Opening Date: 2022
This new pirate-themed dark ride, developed through a partnership between Sally Dark Rides and the themed fabrication artists of Daniels Wood Land, will take riders through a newly-discovered system of caverns beneath Cannery Row that, according to legend, once served as a hideout for the infamous Pirate Captain Hippolyte Bouchard and his crew.
Volkanu: Quest for the Golden Idol
Location: Lost Island theme park
Opening Date: 2022
Developed by Sally Dark Rides, the anchor attraction for Iowa’s upcoming Lost Island theme park will showcase the element of fire in the Mura Realm and be housed inside a large volcano just west of the park’s entrance. The four-minute experience will take riders on a thrilling adventure to locate a sacred Ora-Tika statue — the Golden Idol that keeps Volkanu dormant — return it to the altar, and restore peace to the island.
Zootopia expansion
Location: Shanghai Disneyland
Opening Date: 2022
In addition to a major new attraction that blends storytelling and state-of-the-art technology to bring this favorite film to life, guests can expect immersive entertainment, merchandise, and dining options that can only be found in this mammalian metropolis.
ArieForce One roller coaster
Location: Fun Spot Atlanta
Opening Date: 2022
Fun Spot America is teaming up with Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) to construct an all-new steel roller coaster for Fun Spot Atlanta, aptly named ArieForce One. Riders will soar over 3,400 feet of track, towering 15 stories and flying at speeds up to 64 miles-per-hour. The new coaster will be located near the main gate of the park.
SkyBlazer
Location: Cotaland, Texas
Opening Date: 2022
SkyBlazer swinging gondola attraction will give riders the sensation of skydiving when it opens at Cotaland amusement park in the Circuit of the Americas racing and entertainment center in Austin, Texas, in 2022.
Mickey’s Toontown reimagining
Location: Disneyland park
Opening Date: Early 2023
Disneyland Resort has announced that a reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland park is on the horizon, set to debut in early 2023 alongside the land’s new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Imagineers are hard at work to create new experiences for families and young children to enjoy together inside Disneyland park. Mickey’s Toontown will transform into a “symphony of sights, sounds, and sensations” with new play experiences and open, grassy play spaces. The land will also receive new landscaping for both spontaneous family play and parental relaxation.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

The first ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse will feature a new original story and theme song as it takes guests on a journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.
Fantasy Springs
Location: Tokyo DisneySea
Opening Date: 2023
This newly announced expansion at Tokyo DisneySea will create the eighth themed port, inspired by a magical spring leading to a world of Disney magic and fantasy. The port will be made up of three areas that recreate the worlds of the Disney animated films “Frozen,” “Peter Pan” and “Tangled,” as well as a deluxe hotel with a one-of-a-kind luxury wing that is set to be the most luxurious accommodations ever at the resort.
Super Nintendo World
Location: Universal Orlando Resort; Universal Studios Hollywood; Universal Studios Singapore

Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multi-level environments filled with state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo’s most popular characters and games.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter

Like its sister attraction in London, this Studio Tour will take guests behind-the-scenes of the Wizarding World with authentic sets, costumes and props from the “Harry Potter” films.
Dollywood’s HeartSong Lodge & Resort
Location: Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

An ambitious expansion has been announced for Dollywood Parks and Resorts: The new 302-room HeartSong Lodge & Resort, which will open adjacent to Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort and Spa. Reminiscent of a grand lodge in the Smokies, HeartSong Lodge & Resort will have a “rustic-chic” design with four-story lantern-inspired lobby windows, welcoming fireplace, exposed beams, balconies for a “place tucked in the leaves,” and an outdoor cove with screened-in porch and communal fire pit. Family-friendly features include bunk rooms and spacious suites, loft rooms tucked into the dormers, balconies, indoor and outdoor pools, and more.

Rosalie, a new lakeside contemporary French brasserie, will replace the current Café Mickey restaurant to elevate the Disney Village culinary experience and expand options for guests looking for French flavors.
The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers

This table service restaurant and bakery will offer a variety of sweet and savory treats, desserts, and afternoon tea.
Donkey Kong-themed area of Super Nintendo World

Universal Studios Japan has finally announced that, after practically endless speculation since the land was first announced, a new Donkey Kong-themed area is coming to Super Nintendo World. This new area will feature a roller coaster, interactive experiences, themed merchandise and food — all with the playfulness that guests enjoy in Super Nintendo World. Guests will feel as though they are playing inside the world of Donkey Kong as they walk through the lush jungles where DK and his friends live.

Disney Cruise Line guests can look forward to a signature island experience that celebrates nature and the spirit and culture of The Bahamas at a new Disney port of call located on the island of Eleuthera at a place called Lighthouse Point.
Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

The new Disney Vacation Club villas, located on the lagoon’s shore, will complement the existing resort and provide views of the Magic Kingdom, as well as new recreation and dining options.
Efteling Grand Hotel
Location: Efteling Resort
Opening Date: 2024
The Efteling Grand Hotel will be a seven-story building, with a 106-meter facade, giving a grand impression to all those that walk past. Seven towers will frame one of the building’s stand-out features – a gigantic clock with a pendulum, sitting high up in the green oxidized copper roof.
Area15 experiential entertainment district

The purpose-built experiential entertainment facility will feature distinct attractions, interactive art installations, and ground-breaking technology, along with unique retail, bars, and dining outlets.
Universal’s Epic Universe
Location: Universal Orlando Resort
Opening Date: Summer 2025
Universal Orlando’s newest theme park will feature its own entertainment district, restaurants, hotels, shops, and immersively-themed lands once it’s built. The park will be located on a 750-acre site near the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Construction was temporarily paused due to the pandemic, but has since resumed.
Ubisoft Entertainment Center
Location: Studios Occitanie Méditerranée, France
Opening Date: 2025
Ubisoft and Storyland Studios are teaming up to create a multi-brand themed entertainment experience, to be located at Studios Occitanie Méditerranée. Once open, it will be the first in a series of centers that will “immerse fans and newcomers alike in fully interactive worlds” based on Ubisoft’s game franchises.
Transformation of Epcot

As revealed at D23 Expo 2019, Epcot will stay true to its original vision while bringing timeless Disney storytelling to life with the magic of possibility. The park will be unified with four neighborhoods that each celebrate a unique aspect of what makes Epcot so special: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.
DuckTales World Showcase Adventure

Your favorite “DuckTales” pals are headed to Epcot. Through the Play Disney Parks app, guests will join Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Webby, and the nephews in search of priceless treasure. Travel around the World Showcase to discover unique destinations, mysteries, and maybe even a few thieves, villains, and supernatural guardians of ancient artifacts.
Avengers Quinjet attraction

One of the iconic buildings in California’s Avengers Campus will be the Avengers Headquarters. The building will become the future entrance to a brand-new Quinjet E-Ticket attraction where guests will fly alongside the Avengers in an adventure to Wakanda and beyond.
Frozen expansion
Location: Hong Kong Disneyland

The area will feature two attractions: a new coaster called Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs that takes guests on a winding journey through the kingdom, and Frozen Ever After, inspired by the popular family attraction in Epcot’s Norway pavilion at Walt Disney World Resort.
“The Princess and the Frog” retheme of Splash Mountain
Location: Magic Kingdom; Disneyland park
Opening Date: TBA
Disney has announced that Splash Mountain at both Disneyland park in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida will soon be rethemed to “The Princess and the Frog.” The story of this attraction picks up after the final kiss in the film, as riders join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure (featuring music from the film) as they gear up for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.
Columbia Pictures Aquaverse
Location: Bangsaray, Thailand
Opening Date: TBA
The world’s first Columbia Pictures theme park and waterpark, “Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse,” will feature experiences that bring to life beloved characters from movies like “Ghostbusters,” “Jumanji,” “Bad Boys,” “Men in Black,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”
