This is a huge weekend for fans of fright. After a successful “inaugural fear,” Howl-O-Scream is back at SeaWorld Orlando.
-
This 2022 version of Howl-O-Scream features five haunted houses (two are brand new), seven scare zones, and five specialty-themed and interactive bars.
-
Kyle Smith is the event production manager. “This is definitely the largest event that I’ve ever been a part of,” he said when Spectrum News visited just days before the Sept. 9 opening night.
-
The theme involves sultry villains. “It’s centered around these sirens and how they lure you in,” he said.
-
And a fun fact about Kyle: He was a professional ice skater with Disney on Ice. That experience made him fall “in love with entertainment and production and to be able to create.” From Disney magic to gore, he finds beauty in both, even in the haunted houses. “It’s so weird because you want to say it’s beautiful, but it’s also, like, super gory. It’s just nasty.”

The icon this year is named Scratch and she’s the Blood Siren. If you’re brave enough to encounter her, Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld Orlando runs Sept. 9 through Oct. 31.
